Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu is a professional poker player from Toronto, Canada. He might be the most well known of any professional poker player, known specifically for his uncanny ability to read the hands of his opponents. When Daniel was young, he dropped out of High School and opted to start a life of gambling. Daniel would bet on all different things, including pool, sports and of course, poker. While living in Toronto at age 22, Daniel earned money and eventually decided to move to Las Vegas in hopes of starting a true career as a professional poker player. However, Daniel Negreanu did not last long in Vegas, as he quickly went broke and moved back to Toronto.

Daniel Negreanu's poker career eventually started in 1997 when he won a few preliminary events in a Connecticut poker series. From then on, his poker career skyrocketed quickly. He won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2004 when he won a $2k buy in Pot Limit Hold Em event for $170k. He would later win 3 more WSOP bracelets for a total of 4. His second bracelet came in 2003 when he won a $2k buy in SHOE event for $100k. The third bracelet came in 2004, the same year that Daniel Negreanu won the “Player of the Year” award for that World Series of Poker. That bracelet came in a $2k buy in Limit Hold Em event for another $170k. His last bracelet came in 2008 in another $2k Limit Hold Em tournament for $205k. In 2009, he also came runner up in another Limit Hold Em event.

Besides for the WSOP, Daniel Negreanu won 2 World Poker Tour titles and is the leading money winner in the history of the World Poker Tour. His 2 wins came in the $10k buy in Borgata Poker Open for $1.1 Million and The 5 Diamond World Poker Classic, which has a buy in of $15k. Negreanu won that event for another $1.7 million. He has also won the Main Event at the WSOP circuit event in Tunica, MS and a plethora of other events. In the end, Negreanu has won a total of $12 million in tournament poker. In addition to his tournament success, Daniel Negreanu is a regular member of the highest staked games in Las Vegas, playing in the famous “Bobby's Room” in the Bellagio. He also has many appearances on High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark.

Outside of playing poker, Daniel Negreanu has been an active member of the poker community. Daniel Negreanu became a sponsored poker professional with the largest online poker site in the online poker industry, Poker Stars. He helps market the site aggressively by starring in commercials and playing in all of the big Poker Stars sponsored events. He also takes parts in many promotions of the site, where players can play in Sit and Gos with Daniel Negreanu and a promotion where Negreanu is trying to turn $10 into $100k in front of the whole world. Negreanu plays under the name KidPoker on Poker Stars.

Daniel Negreanu also made his own poker website, which he named Full Contact Poker. This site was basically an online poker blog where Negreanu wrote about his life in the poker industry. He later became the head member of PokerVT, an online poker training site where Daniel Negreanu shows all members how to use his poker style, which he has named “Small Ball” poker. In addition to these accomplishments, Negreanu has also written 2 poker books. He is the author of “Hold Em Wisdom for All Players” and his most recent book, “Power Hold Em Strategy”, where Daniel discusses his Small Ball strategy at a very in-depth level. Daniel also was asked by Doyle Brunson to write a section of Brunson's latest version of the famous “Supersystem” poker book.
